Vietnam has recently been listed as one of the safest countries on Earth. With an increasing number of travelers to Vietnam each year, Hanoi capital city has become a popular gateway to begin your holidays with. From here, you can explore the beautiful French Colonial City of Hanoi and possibly some surrounding handicraft villages during your free time. Continue onto Halong bay to visit this beautiful UNESCO heritage site, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, enjoying one night on board of a junk boat for the feel of the Bay. Then fly out of Hanoi to Hue, the former capital of Vietnam, to start your biking adventures across the country through many beautiful mountains, passes, remote and tranquil villages until we arrive at the flat but picturesque Mekong Delta. There are popular destinations along your biking journey where you will pick up more cyclists ready to join us and drop off some members who wish to extend their stay and may want to fly out to rejoin the group a few days later. Those set departures with various modules between popular destinations will allow guests to plan their journey easily. Please find below the destinations where you can start your biking trip with us: Hanoi, Hue, HoiAn, Nha Trang, Dalat, Saigon.

On 12th each month: Hanoi meeting point. 

Since different people arrive in Hanoi on various flights, dates, you are supposed to make your own way to the TBA hotel today. This evening, meet at the hotel lobby at 6 PM for the tour briefing, followed by welcome dinner at a local restaurant (Vietnamese set menu).

On 13th each month: Hanoi City

Good morning Vietnam! After a fresh breakfast at hotel, start sightseeing of Hanoi, the current capital of Vietnam, to get to know about the city of lakes, shaded boulevards and charming parks. It is a very attractive city with French-style architecture. This full day sightseeing includes a visit to the Ho Chi Minh complex, One Pillar Pagoda, which was built by Ly Thai Tong and the Temple of Literature, founded by Emperor Ly Thanh Tong. Stop in the heart of Hanoi at Hoan Kiem Lake, which contains an islet with a tiny Tortoise Pagoda. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the outside of Hanoi Opera House and St. Joseph Cathedral. Conclude with a visit to Hanoi historical museum, once the museum of l’Ecole Francaise d’Extreme Orient, which includes artifacts from Vietnam’s turbulent history. Enjoy a cyclo ride for an hour, the best way to explore visiting Old Quarter. Have dinner at local restaurant. Overnight in Hanoi.

On 14th each month: Hanoi to Halong

This morning, we’ll drive from Hanoi to one of the most magnificent scenic environments in the world, Halong Bay. With a total area of 1,553 square kilometers or 577 square miles, this vast bay is filled with more than 3,000 limestone “peaks” or karsts that jut from the deep blue water as far as the eye can see. We’ll spend one and a half days exploring this overwhelming seascape on a traditional boat. Comfortable and intimate, your boat features beautiful wooden interiors including a dining room and pleasant equipped cabins. Since we stay overnight on the water, we’ll be able to explore Ha Long Bay’s most beautiful spots with time to swim and even visit some of the largest rock formations and caves. This promises to be one of your most memorable travel experiences in Asia. We will follow the cruise schedule, subject to weather conditions.

 

On 15th each month: Halong to Hue (meeting) 

Rising to the sound of water lapping around the boat, we have time for an early morning tai-chi lesson on the upper deck, or relax while taking in the breath-taking beauty of the rocky islands rising from the emerald water of the bay. Then enjoy more cruising through the bay with some sightseeing or swimming. Afterwards, cruise back to the jetty with more opportunities to see the fascinating formations through windows while brunch is served. Cruise check-out around 10.30AM and drive to the Noi Bai airport for mid-afternoon flight to Hue. On arrival in Hue, meet and transfer to the hotel. Evening, join with new members for a welcome briefing at 8.00PM

ITINERARY

On 16th each month: Hue surroundings

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before spinning outside of Hue, riding along the river (or in the van if the traffic is too busy), then into the countryside through remote villages. Along the way, a possibility to stop at a kindergarten to visit school children who will be delighted to practice their English with.

 

Continue on to visit two of the finest examples of Imperial architecture, the Tu Duc and Khai Dinh Royal Tombs, spend some time walking through the garden courtyards, learning about the history of Vietnam’s emperors and enjoying the feng shui settings. Afterwards, continue to bike across the Eastern bank to visit the sublime Thien Mu Pagoda, observing the novice monks, who live here, and strolling the pleasant grounds. Bid farewell to Thien Mu, further our ride into the massive Citadel, where Vietnam’s emperors ruled between 1802 and 1945.

 

Afterwards, breaking for lunch at a beautifully restored Ancient Hue restaurant located deep inside a quiet alley in Kim Long village.

 

In the afternoon, discover the Southeast quarter of Hue with visit to Thanh Toan covered bridge, riding past serene villages along the Nhu Y river, rice fields, fruit gardens, family chapels, village communal houses. Dinner is on your own.

On 17th each month: Cycling from Hue to Hoi An

This morning we’ll ride across the Perfume River, entering and weaving through the Imperial Citadel on our way out of town, heading south through rice farms to visit a restored traditional village before continuing towards the coast via An Bang – My Loi – Vinh Hien route. After reaching a side route, we’ll enjoy a wonderfully scenic ride along a beautiful coast passing emerald green rice fields fronting blue lagoons. Here are also white dunes, covered with colorful traditional burial tombs (although the larger ones are new, a symbol of Vietnam’s rising economy). Here are numerous small villages and farms, and again we’ll pause to meet with locals and stop into a local school.

 

After a couple hours of flat, meandering ride, we’ll break at Lang Co Lagoon for a seafood lunch before — uh-oh — conquering the six-mile Hai Van Pass (below). Thankfully, the pass was graded gently and is also now closed to motor traffic. After pausing on the summit for panoramic views north to Hue and south over Danang, we’ll descend then continue onto Hoi An, skirting busy Danang and out to the coast again south to Hoi An, a quaint town that is typically everyone’s favorite stop in Vietnam on this tour. On arrival in HoiAn, bid farewell to the members of module HAN/HOI.

On 18th each month: Hoi An surroundings

Start biking from the hotel to explore the ecological quarters of HoiAn including Cam Kim fishing village, Kim Bong wood carving & boat building village. The ride takes us past numerous fish, shrimp farms, rice paddies, bamboo bridges, Buddhist monasteries hidden in the backstreets, until we reach Cua Dai bridge spanning across the ocean mouth taking us back into Tra Que organic herbal village for lunch. The afternoon ride covers the Cam Nam island to see more fishing farms, rice fields, river reeds, and cobblers. Return to hotel and the rest of the day is at leisure. Dinner is on your own.

On 19th each month: HoiAn – Quang Ngai

Take a leisured cycling on paths from HoiAn through Thanh Ha, Dien Ban onto My Son site of Champa ruins. Share the paths with kids cycling to school, walk some morning local markets along our biking route and experience ancient architecture of My Son and its history. Lunch is at a local restaurant in Cau Mong. Afternoon, transfer by support van to Chu Lai and continue our last biking mileage to visit the My Lai massacre village. Then, ride to hotel for check in and the remainder of the day is at leisure.

On 20th each month: Quang Ngai – Quy Nhon

After early breakfast, depart hotel by minivan to Chau Me and mount bikes to ride on backroads meandering through numerous colorful fishing villages with thousands of fishing boats, sand dunes. Venture on single tracks, even deserted roads among aromatic rice paddies. Sometimes along the ride, you might want to challenge on some sandy off-roads around Tam Quan. There are also opportunities to see hundreds of salagan bird farms for nest cultivation. Stop en route for swimming opportunities at one of the most serene beaches en route to Quy Nhon that other travelers rarely visit. This long day ends with passing through the former American port base in Qui Nhon. shuttle from De Gi to hotel. If it’s early, time for swimming and massage. Dinner is at a local restaurant.

On 21st each month: Quy Nhon – Nha Trang (meeting) 

After leisurely breakfast, enjoying the beach views until departure. Our ride from Quy Nhon to Nha Trang covers some of Vietnam’s most scenic coastline, featuring blue lagoons with stone promontories overlooking the languid waters below. Fishing villages under rows of palms dot the coast here, their bays are filled with brightly colored boats. Not many travelers make it here, so lots of attention can be expected.

Another long day in the saddle, beginning with a ride down the quiet road from the hotel all the way to Song Cau with many uphill and downhill, until arriving in Tuy Hoa, where we will rendezvous for lunch. From Tuy Hoa, van shuttle to picturesque Dai Lanh Beach, pausing for a dip in the water and refreshments. In the late afternoon, arrive on the waterfront in picturesque Nha Trang. After arrival, On arrival in Nha Trang, bid farewell to the members of module HAN/NHA, HUI/NHA, HOI/NHA.

Route B: via highland

On 23rd each month: Nha Trang – Dalat (meeting) 

Let’s see how big your challenge is if you want to conquer the Hon Giao Pass from hotel to hotel about 130km. This day will be started at 7:30am in Dien Khanh village. We warm your leg up on the easy road before pedaling 33km to summit for picnic lunch. In the afternoon, we cycle roll up and down hills and along a part of Ho Chi Minh Trails to Da Lat Valley.

  • Cycling Road type: Flat, Hilly & moderate (climb from sea level to 2000m height, for 33km).
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

On 24th each month: Dalat surroundings

Around Dalat, onto Suoi Vang, Thung Lung Vang, Tuyen Lam lake, downhill to Prenn pass A bottom and return to Dalat via Prenn pass B, uphill and some bumpy sections.

 

On 25th each month: Dalat – Saigon

Dalat ride to Buon Chuoi, Nam Ban, Elephant waterfall, continue onto Duc Trong. Lunch. Afternoon, shuttle to Madagui and ride from here via the Nam Cat Tien park down to Dinh Quan. 

 

On 26th each month: Saigon – Cai Be

Saigon via Tan An to My Tho for lunch. Then shuttle to CaiLay and bike to CaiBe.

 

On 27th each month: Cai Be – Can Tho 

Bike CaiBe to ferry and shuttle to SaDec for loop of Vuon Hong, flower village SaDec. Afternoon, bike Dinh Yen mat village, boat building and shuttle to Can Tho.

 

On 28th each month: Can Tho surroundings

My Hoa, My Khanh

 

On 29th each month: Can Tho – Saigon

Floating market, then bike from Vinh Long via Khmer route to Tam Binh. after lunch, transfer back to Saigon. Bid farewell to the VBB biking team. End of services.
