Cycling Holiday: Saigon to Angkor Wat 8 Days

You will be picked-up and transfer to the out of the bustling city of Saigon behind and transfer to the gateway of the Mekong Delta. Once there, you'll begin your cycling adventure 8 days, immersing yourself in the serene and picturesque landscapes that this region is renowned for. As you pedal through the lush greenery and along the meandering waterways, you'll witness the vibrant local life that thrives in this river-based community. Stop for a delightful lunch, sampling the fresh and flavorful cuisine that the Mekong Delta is famous for. As the day draws to a close, settle in for a well-deserved dinner before retiring for the night in the charming city of Ben Tre.

Embark on a morning bicycle ride that will bring you closer to the Khmer farmers. Pedal along peaceful paths that traverse picturesque rice paddy fields and charming villages, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. During the ride, we'll make stops at local homes, allowing you to immerse yourself in the Khmer way of life. Capture the moment with a photo at Khmer temples and take a leisurely walk to gain insights into the differences between Theravada and Mahayana branches of Buddhism.

In the afternoon, we'll continue cycling along back roads, passing by fruit orchards, vegetable fields, and crossing small natural creeks with the assistance of local ferry services. These ferries are the primary mode of transportation in rural areas, providing an authentic experience of daily life. Later in the day, we'll have a brief transfer to Can Tho city, where you'll have free time to explore in the evening.

A visit to Can Tho is incomplete without experiencing its bustling floating market. Before we embark on our bike ride, we'll hop on a boat that will take us to the floating market. As we cycle through the countryside of Phong Dien, we'll pass by numerous small natural creeks and villages. Along the way, we'll make a stop at Phong Dien to enjoy some fresh fruits. Continuing our bike ride along the river, we'll witness the daily activities of the locals, such as grocery boats selling household goods, cargo boats transporting sand for building, and small fast boats carrying pigs and ducks to the local markets. We'll also encounter small ferries that transport passengers to the other side. Our lunch stop will be in the town of Long Xuyen at the Crocodile Land. 

In the afternoon, we'll delve deeper into the region, pedaling along paths that traverse man-made canals. Along the way, we'll encounter local boats, water taxis, cargo boats, and sampans in the Tra Su cajuput forest. If time allows, we'll also have the opportunity to witness a stunning sunset on the Sam Mountain, capturing some amazing pictures. We'll spend the night at a 3 star hotel in Chau Doc City.

After indulging in a delicious buffet breakfast at the hotel, we will arrange for a local vehicle to transfer you to the speedboat pier, just a 15-minute drive away from the center of Chau Doc City. As you board the speedboat, you will have the opportunity to witness the charm of the floating village and floating fish farms along the way.

By early noon, we will arrive in Phnom Penh, where you can enjoy a well-deserved half-day rest. Alternatively, if you wish to explore the highlights of the capital city, we can suggest visiting attractions such as the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, and Tuol Sleng Museum.

After crossing Tonlé Sap by ferry, you will be greeted by the vast and beautiful countryside, presenting an exciting challenge for you. We have designed a 30km ride through the silk-worm village, allowing you to explore the local farm and indulge in the taste of tropical fruits. This is an excellent opportunity for you to purchase some lovely little gifts for your family and friends back home.

In the afternoon, we will escape the bustling atmosphere of Phnom Penh and embark on a relaxing two-hour motorized boat ride along the Tonlé Sap River. This scenic journey will treat you to stunning views of the Royal Palace and the skyline of Phnom Penh. Take your time and thoroughly enjoy the serene sunset before our team picks you up for dinner. Afterwards, you can explore and spend the rest of the night in your own preferred way.

After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, you will embark on a scenic journey to the villages of Prasat Sambour. Arriving before noon, you will have the opportunity to explore the local life as you ride along dirt tracks, passing through charming villages and visiting captivating temples. If you're lucky, you may even witness a traditional local wedding. There will be several stops along the way to interact with the locals and visit the remarkable Sambor Sreikuk temple.

After a delicious lunch, we will continue our journey to Siem Reap, soaking in the beautiful sunset along the way. In the late afternoon, we will arrive at a luxurious 5-star hotel in Siem Reap, where you will spend the night.

The Angkor Wat complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is surrounded by a lush jungle that showcases a breathtaking array of unique temple architecture. These temples leave a lasting impression on visitors due to their immense scale, expansive layout, and intricate stone carvings.

With the guidance of our experienced cycling guide, we will embark on a journey to explore the main sites, including Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Bayon, and Srah Srang, known as the "pool" of the king. We will also have the opportunity to visit the mystical Ta Prohm temple, which is partially reclaimed by the verdant jungle and adorned with towering trees.

Throughout our expedition, our skilled team will share their expertise as we navigate forest trails, wander through the magnificent ruins, and gain a deeper understanding of the grandeur of the Khmer civilization. We will conclude our day's adventure by spending the night in Siem Reap, cherishing the unforgettable experiences of exploring the Angkor Wat complex.

In the morning, we will return you to the Angkor complex area for a cycling tour to Banteay Srei, a remote temple crafted by female artists and part of the Angkor Grand. You will cycle 45 km through the jungle and local villages, offering you a firsthand experience of the local lifestyle. Along the way, you may witness how people produce sugar and local wine from "tnoat," a type of Khmer sugar palm tree.

Afterward, we will continue our journey in a van to Kampong Phluk, where we will enjoy a boat trip and witness the breathtaking sunset. Finally, we will return to Siem Reap center and drop you off at your booked hotel to end our service!
