Cycling Holiday: Saigon - Angkor Wat 10 days

Travel with us from Saigon to Tan An and embark on an exciting journey to explore the second largest dragon fruit region in Vietnam. Along the biking routes, you will encounter friendly farmers who greet you with a warm "hello". We'll pass through a village renowned for its vermicelli production in My Tho and visit the magnificent Vinh Trang pagoda.

Upon arriving at the dock, we will take a private boat to the Mekong Riverside restaurant for a delightful lunch. Afterward, we'll continue our adventure in a support vehicle to Ben Tre, where you will have the opportunity to learn about the various coconut products made by the locals. If time permits, we will ride along a serene path to Ba Lai and explore Ben Tre city. Spend the night at a charming riverside resort or lodge in Ben Tre for a truly memorable experience.

Embark on a morning bicycle ride that will bring you closer to the Khmer farmers. Pedal along peaceful paths that traverse picturesque rice paddy fields and charming villages, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. During the ride, we'll make stops at local homes, allowing you to immerse yourself in the Khmer way of life. Capture the moment with a photo at Khmer temples and take a leisurely walk to gain insights into the differences between Theravada and Mahayana branches of Buddhism.

In the afternoon, we'll continue cycling along back roads, passing by fruit orchards, vegetable fields, and crossing small natural creeks with the assistance of local ferry services. These ferries are the primary mode of transportation in rural areas, providing an authentic experience of daily life. Later in the day, we'll have a brief transfer to Can Tho city, where you'll have free time to explore in the evening.

A visit to Can Tho is incomplete without experiencing its bustling floating market. Before we embark on our bike ride, we'll hop on a boat that will take us to the floating market. As we cycle through the countryside of Phong Dien, we'll pass by numerous small natural creeks and villages. Along the way, we'll make a stop at Phong Dien to enjoy some fresh fruits. Continuing our bike ride along the river, we'll witness the daily activities of the locals, such as grocery boats selling household goods, cargo boats transporting sand for building, and small fast boats carrying pigs and ducks to the local markets. We'll also encounter small ferries that transport passengers to the other side. Our lunch stop will be in the town of Long Xuyen at the Crocodile Land. 

In the afternoon, we'll delve deeper into the region, pedaling along paths that traverse man-made canals. Along the way, we'll encounter local boats, water taxis, cargo boats, and sampans in the Tra Su cajuput forest. If time allows, we'll also have the opportunity to witness a stunning sunset on the Sam Mountain, capturing some amazing pictures. We'll spend the night at a 3 star hotel in Chau Doc City.

After indulging in a delicious buffet breakfast at the hotel, we will arrange for a local vehicle to transfer you to the speedboat pier, just a 15-minute drive away from the center of Chau Doc City. As you board the speedboat, you will have the opportunity to witness the charm of the floating village and floating fish farms along the way.

By early noon, we will arrive in Phnom Penh, where you can enjoy a well-deserved half-day rest. Alternatively, if you wish to explore the highlights of the capital city, we can suggest visiting attractions such as the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, and Tuol Sleng Museum.

After crossing Tonlé Sap by ferry, you will be greeted by the vast and beautiful countryside, presenting an exciting challenge for you. We have designed a 30km ride through the silk-worm village, allowing you to explore the local farm and indulge in the taste of tropical fruits. This is an excellent opportunity for you to purchase some lovely little gifts for your family and friends back home.

In the afternoon, we will escape the bustling atmosphere of Phnom Penh and embark on a relaxing two-hour motorized boat ride along the Tonlé Sap River. This scenic journey will treat you to stunning views of the Royal Palace and the skyline of Phnom Penh. Take your time and thoroughly enjoy the serene sunset before our team picks you up for dinner. Afterwards, you can explore and spend the rest of the night in your own preferred way.

Arriving before noon, you will have the opportunity to explore the local life as you ride along dirt tracks, passing through charming villages and visiting captivating temples. If you're lucky, you may even witness a traditional local wedding. There will be several stops along the way to interact with the locals and visit the remarkable Sambor Sreikuk temple.

After a delicious lunch, we will continue our journey to Siem Reap, soaking in the beautiful sunset along the way. In the late afternoon, we will arrive at a luxurious 5-star hotel in Siem Reap, where you will spend the night.

The Angkor Wat complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is surrounded by a lush jungle that holds within it a magnificent display of unique temple architecture. These temples leave a profound impression on visitors with their incredible size, extensive layout, and exquisite stone carving details. 

With the guidance of our experienced cycling guide, we will embark on a journey to explore the main facilities of Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Bayon, and the Srah Srang, known as the "pool" of the king. We will also have the opportunity to visit the mystical Ta Prohm temple, partially submerged in the verdant jungle and enveloped by towering trees. 

Throughout our expedition, our talented team will provide us with their expertise as we navigate through forest trails, wander around the magnificent ruins, and gain a deep understanding of the grandeur of the Khmer civilization. We will conclude our day's adventure by spending the night in Siem Reap, carrying with us the unforgettable experiences of exploring the Angkor Wat complex.

In the morning, we will take you back to the Angkor complex area to cycle to visit Banteay Srei, a remote temple built by female artists and belonging to Angkor Grand. You will bike 45km through the jungle and villages, giving you a firsthand experience of the local lifestyle. Along the way, you might see how people make sugar and local wine from "tnoat," which is a type of Khmer sugar palm tree.

Afterward, we will continue our journey in a van to Kampong Phluk, where we will enjoy a boat trip and witness the breathtaking sunset. Finally, we will return to the hotel and you can relax by the swimming pool before enjoying a farewell dinner with Apsara dancing. This will be followed by some free time in Siem Reap. You will spend the night at a luxurious 5-star hotel in Siem Reap.
