Cycling Vietnam: Hanoi to Saigon 14 days

Departure time: 8AM 

In the morning, you'll be transferred to the port to embark on the five-star Aspira Cruise. Upon check-in, you'll be welcomed with a refreshing drink and a cold/warm towel. A cruise briefing will follow, where you'll receive essential safety instructions before settling into your cabin. Lunch will be served at the lavish onboard restaurant, followed by an exploration of the cruise's areas as the vessel navigates the breathtaking Lan Ha Bay. Venture to the famous Bright Cave and Dark Cave, where you can engage in activities like kayaking or bamboo boat paddling, guided by local experts.

Back on the Aspira cruise, you can choose between a refreshing swim or a relaxing jacuzzi session. Enjoy a sunset tea while taking in the stunning bay scenery, and don't miss the "Buy two drinks, get one free" happy hour promotion at the bar. Board the tender boat and return to the port at Lot of Tuần Châu Marina. We'll provide transportation on the cruise's bus, taking you back to Hanoi. Conclude your journey by returning to Hanoi around 3-4 PM, leaving you free to explore the enchanting Old Quarter before your overnight train to Hue.

Welcome to Hue! Arriving at the train station at 8:30 AM, you'll be greeted with a fresh buffet breakfast and your custom bike fitting to kick off the adventure. Once the imperial heart of Vietnam and a timeless muse for poets and artists, Hue remains a vibrant and captivating city. 

Today’s cycling begins at the majestic Old Citadel, which still dominates the river’s left bank. From there, you’ll embark on an inspiring 25-kilometer cycle along the Perfume River, pedaling past the grand 19th-century Minh Mang Tomb, the scenic heights of Vong Canh Hill, the ancient Nam Giao Esplanade, and a traditional bronze-making village. Wrap up your unforgettable day with an overnight stay in the heart of Hue.

(Note: Upon arrival in Hue, you will transfer to breakfast and enjoy a morning ride combines with visiting the highlights in Hue. After 2:00 PM, you will check into your hotel and have the rest of the day free to relax at your leisure.)

Enjoy a short transfer to coastal roads and start your cycling day off the beaten track along a picturesque lane shaded by coconut palms running alongside the peninsula from Thuan An beach to Phuoc Tuong Pass. This cycling enables you to pause on the way to explore some of the hundreds of ancestral tombs scattered across the high sand dunes.

Having lunch at Lang Co beach before you have one of the biggest challenges of rolling hills 12 km to the peak of Hai Van. The Hai van pass is a real challenge for you. Then going down 12 km to Danang city before a transfer to HoiAn. Overnight at the 4 star resort in Hoi An Ancient !

In the morning: You will enjoy an Ancient Hoian walking tour around this enchanting port town. Follow the narrow lanes lined with centuries-old houses influenced by Chinese, Japanese, French and European architecture and visit its numerous places of interest: the 400-year old Japanese Covered Bridge, the Phuc Kien Assembly Halls, the local fish market … Around the town we can see numerous art galleries and tailor shops, get some made-to-order clothes if you like.

In the afternoon: Cycle to Tra Que village, Join the farmers in farming, sowing, watering, picking vegetables and many other gardening activities. Next up, Hoi An boat tour. Follow your guide to the banks of the Thu Bon River to take to the waterways and discover even more of the area. Cruise the river, watch as the sun sets over the river, with bobbing local fishing boats adding to the atmosphere.

Hoi An is a UNESCO World Heritage site with so much to offer that one could easily stay for days. While our program includes the most iconic highlights—like our cycling and cooking experience—we have intentionally included a free day for you. This allows you to stroll through the ancient streets, relax on the beach, or explore further at your own pace without feeling rushed.

We will start cycling today from the resort in Hoi An Ancient Town on the back street past lively fishing villages to Thu Bon river. Cross the river by a steel bridge and visit a local fresh market where the fish come straight out of the East Sea and into the baskets of this small market. Great opportunity to see the real daily life of locals who are living in the area for generations. We then continue cycling on the country roads through many villages and small towns.

Take a break by having lunch at a local restaurant near Tam Thanh beach and 2 hours drive ahead to Tam Quan to cycle on quiet back roads through villages dotted with palm trees, then continue along the coastline with sand dune peninsula for great views back over the bay and the mountains. We see lots of coast today as we undulate along the well made road with friendly villagers waving and cheering us on. Overnight in Quy Nhon city in the early evening!

Leisurely resting, breakfast and ready to be transferred to the southern coast in Quy Nhon for cycling from the small village and waterfront, cross the river on the narrow wooden bridge, enjoy ocean views, and see colorful circular bamboo boats at small fishing villages.Continue cycling through rustic farms, small-town across lush farmland on the undulating back road to Da Dia Reefs. The seashore area is about 100 meters wide and 250 meters long, composed of an estimated 35,000 columns of basalt rocks. The rocks are dark lava columns with roughly flat surfaces of different shapes - round, pentagon, hexagon, polygon etc. Stop to take a walk down the area for a short break and take a photo.

Followed as planned, we cycle on narrow pathways along the local beaches, pass by some little markets to the lively lagoon. There is another opportunity for us to admire hundreds of floating fish farmings on the lagoon. Afterwards, the ride continues, crossing the rivers and exploring idyllic villages on undulating paths, passing colorful ancient temples and pagodas. View the landscapes of nature through sweet potato fields, tapioca fields, rice paddies to Tuy Hoa finish point before driving to Nha Tran within 2 hours. Overnight at 4 star front-beach hotel in Nha Trang.

Today is a completely free day for you to unwind. If you’d like to do more than just lounge on the main beach, here is a fantastic optional activity we highly recommend:

• Optional Island Hopping Cruise

With its beautiful bays, golden sands, and turquoise waters, Nha Trang is a true coastal paradise. Weather permitting, you can take a morning boat trip out to explore the surrounding islands. We’ll stop near a scenic reef where you can swim or snorkel straight off the boat. From there, we’ll head to a quiet, privately owned island where you can spend a few hours relaxing under a rental parasol, enjoying a cold drink, or savoring a fresh seafood lunch (at your own expense). After returning to the mainland in the afternoon, the rest of the day and evening are yours to enjoy at your leisure.

Ready for the ultimate climbing challenge? After a one-hour transfer west of Nha Trang, you’ll face the legendary Hon Giao Pass (also known as Khanh Le). Prepare to test your limits with a formidable 33km continuous uphill grind, ascending from near sea level to the misty summit at 1,700 meters.

Once you’ve conquered the peak, the landscape transforms. Enjoy a "rock and roll" ride through majestic pine forests as the road undulates across the highlands. You’ll eventually descend into the temperate Da Lat valley, situated at an altitude of 1,500 meters. The cool mountain air and French-colonial charm of "The City of Eternal Spring" provide the perfect reward for your physical feat. After a day of epic climbing and breathtaking alpine scenery, unwind and recover at a comfortable 4-star hotel in the heart of Da Lat. This is more than just a ride; it’s a true cyclist’s rite of passage.

Today, you will journey from the misty highlands of Da Lat down toward the lush landscapes of Bao Loc. Leaving the bustling city center behind, your cycling adventure begins on the scenic trails and rolling hills of the Nam Ban countryside.

You’ll experience an exciting mix of downhills and climbs along single-track paths, surrounded by local farms and plantations. Following a lunch break, we’ll visit the dramatic Elephant Waterfalls. From there, you'll pedal along quiet backroads to explore a traditional silk factory and a local cricket farm, taking in the clean, peaceful mountain air. To wrap up the day, we'll drive you to your eco-resort nestled in the forests of Bao Loc to relax for the evening.

Madagui is a stunning eco-tourism destination blessed with a cool climate, lush landscapes, and refreshing streams. Your cycling journey takes you along a scenic 45 km route through the buffer zone of Cat Tien National Park, where you will experience rolling hills, vibrant flora, and local cricket farms. Along the way, you'll enjoy characteristic coffee stops and glimpses of pristine indigenous culture. After the ride, you will transfer back to Saigon to relax and spend the night at a 4-star hotel.

Driving for 1.5hrs away from Saigon's remarkable rush hour traffic to reach the quieter suburbs this morning, we collect our bikes near the remains of an old US military base (25th infantry division) and start our ride for about 30 km to Ben Dinh, the site of the infamous Cu Chi Tunnels. Originally started during the French occupation of the country, the tunnels went on to achieve notoriety during the Vietnam War, when they formed an amazing underground command base for 10,000 Viet Cong troops.

We will have lunch on the riverside of Saigon river and explore the tunnels with a local guide this morning. Be warned though, the tunnels are low and narrow and can be claustrophobic. Afterward, we’ll drive 2 hrs back to Saigon arriving in the early evening!
