Cycling Mekong: Phnom Penh to Saigon 5 days

Enjoy your leisure time in Phnom Penh until you're ready to board the speedboat for a transfer to Chau Doc, which takes about 4 hours. There will be a stop in the middle for Vietnam visa processing and for you to experience the scenic floating villages along the way. Upon arrival in Chau Doc, a local guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. In the evening, indulge in dinner at a top-rated local restaurant and take some time to explore the captivating sights of Vietnam.

Begin your day with breakfast at the hotel before setting out to explore the backroads of Chau Doc. Your first stop will be the Tra Sư Forest, where you'll spend about an hour discovering the unique ecosystem by motorized boat. After that, you’ll board a local sampan for a leisurely glide through the reserved forest, home to numerous bird species. 

Continue cycling to Binh Thuy for a lunch break. After lunch, your guide will assist you as you cover the remaining distance to Cho Moi, famous for the local Hoa Hao religion. Along the way, take the opportunity to visit local handicraft workshops, including an incense stick making workshop, a bamboo basket village (weather permitting), and various vegetable farms. This will give you a deeper understanding of the region's agricultural practices and traditional herbal medicine. After a rewarding day, you'll be driven to Cao Lanh for an overnight stay, with dinner included.

Enjoy a spectacular transfer over the Cao Lanh Bridge, where you can take in the panoramic views of the mighty Mekong River. You’ll start your cycling journey through vibrant flower farms towards the center of Sa Dec. During lunch, you will learn about the history of the French colonial era, including the poignant love story of the renowned writer Marguerite Duras. 

After a short rest with ginger tea, continue cycling through the bustling Sa Dec Market. You will cycle past orchards and expansive fields of sweet potatoes in Vinh Long before heading to Can Tho, where you will spend the night at a 4-star riverside hotel. Enjoy some free time in the evening to relax or explore.

The highlight of your final day is a boat trip to the Cai Rang floating market, where you can witness local commerce in action. Your next destination is Ben Tre, where a full day of cycling takes you deep into traditional Khmer villages. Stop to visit thatch houses, experience local ways of life, and explore colorful temples along the route from Tra On to Cau Ke. 

After lunch in town, a fantastic biking adventure begins with a short 30-minute transfer by van or bus to Tieu Can. From there, we continue to explore beautiful countryside villages while cycling along canals, rivers, fruit orchards, and through picturesque rice paddy fields. We will end our cycling day by boarding our van or bus to the Ben Tre riverside resort for an overnight stay.

Today, you will board a comfortable minivan to explore the picturesque countryside, characterized by charming villages and serene rivers, in the heart of coconut territory. You’ll be guided along tranquil back roads and pathways that meander through winding creeks and rice fields, where you can observe vibrant market activities along the canals. Enjoy a scenic boat ride that allows you to immerse yourself in the local culture and breathtaking landscapes. Along the way, you may visit a brick kiln, witness the production of coconut candy, and explore handicrafts such as sleeping mats. If time permits, our experienced guide will take you on another beautiful route through the lush dragon fruit orchards between My Tho and Long An. We will then make a brief transfer to Saigon, marking the conclusion of our 4-day bike tour from Phnom Penh through the Mekong Delta!
