Spectacular Cycling Laos: Vientiane to Luang Prabang 7 Days

We'll start with a 1.5-hour transfer to Khon Phouk, where we'll set up our bikes. From there, we'll cycle along the Nam Song River to Tha Heua for a lakeside lunch and a relaxing break with time for photos.

Afterward, we'll continue cycling on Route 13 toward Vang Vieng. If time permits, our guide will shorten the cycling distance, with the rest of the journey being a transfer to the resort. Settle into your accommodations at the Bearlin Bungalow resort, take a dip in the swimming pool, and enjoy a well-deserved dinner before exploring the vibrant heart of the city on your own.

We will start the day by visiting the Patuxay Monument and then embark on a short warm-up bike ride along the Mekong River. Enjoy sunset drinks on the riverbanks, followed by a traditional Laos-style BBQ to welcome you to Laos. If your flight lands early in the morning, we can arrange an additional bike ride to Buddha Park as a warm-up for the rest of the trip.

Today's ride from Vang Vieng will feature gentle uphills and downhills, offering opportunities to stop for beautiful cloudy views and observe local village life. We'll learn about the culture of the mountainous hilltribe minority groups. During the ride, you might also see unexploded ordnance (UXO) disposal efforts, a sobering reminder of the Indochina War in Laos. In the late afternoon, we'll transfer to a 3-star hotel for the night.

Dedicate a full day to exploring the fascinating Plain of Jars by bike. Cycle between the different Jar Sites, each offering a unique perspective on this historical wonder. You'll have ample time to wander among the giant jars, take photographs, and learn about the theories surrounding their purpose. The relatively flat terrain around the sites makes for enjoyable and accessible cycling, allowing for frequent stops to soak in the historical significance.

Our adventure today begins from Seng Sy village toward the Plain of Jars. You'll pass many scenic viewpoints with spectacular cloudy panoramas, often referred to as "heaven's gates."

Today's ride will be our most challenging, with significant uphills and difficult road conditions. This terrain offers a glimpse into the challenging lives of the people who live in this region, which was a vital part of the Ho Chi Minh Trail used to support the North Vietnamese revolution from 1959 to 1975.

We'll enjoy a local lunch at the scenic lake in Muang Souy before transferring to Phonsavan, which is famous for the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Plain of Jars. We'll have dinner and spend the night at a 3-star hotel.

Enjoy a morning transfer to the Scenic Viewpoint in Xiang Ngeun for a challenging ride on rocky trails to the Nam Khan River, where we'll have a riverside lunch and a relaxing siesta in a hammock.

Afterward, we'll cycle along backroads through villages and "tiger trails" that pass by rubber plantations. On arrival in Luang Prabang, we'll cycle to the Victoria Xiengthong resort (or a similar standard guesthouse). Dinner will be served at a charming restaurant in Luang Prabang.
